Vintage Confections started out as a hobby and maybe a way to make a few extra bucks. As we celebrate our fifth year of business this November, we are excited to announce our latest and by far greatest news. We are moving! Again.
You have heard this news before. A year ago to be exact. We moved into a retail storefront in downtown Clarendon Hills, Illinois. If you have never been to our small part of the world, it can be described as: Small. Quaint. Delightful. A recent international guest described our slightly secret place as like "being in a fairy tale." Which is a little how we feel about our business. Creating sweets to suit is something we are deeply passionate about. We often lay awake thinking about what's next. And right now, we are thinking about our upcoming move.
Our new space will give us what we need to take this business to the next level. We can't wait to show you what we have up our [ sweet ] sleeves. The concepts are endless. The time to execute them not so much. Our move will allow us to hire the help we need to make it all happen. And we can't wait to make it happen in Clarendon Hills.
We were in the paper again today. Check it out here.
Thank you for five years. We are grateful. And we can't thank you all enough.
You're all { sweet }.

One of the most exciting things we do is participate in styled photo shoots. We love seeing how the final table comes together and how our pieces of edible art fit in. To that end, Cheryl decided that we could do our own shoot for her third son's first birthday. Cheryl has an eye for style as you'll see in our amazing Charlie is One party we had on June 30. Charlie is the 7th grandchild. Most kids born last get hand me downs, leftovers. Cheryl felt it appropriate Charlie have the biggest first bash ever.
We couldn't be more proud of the results. Most styled shoots we have seen are mostly sweet. We have a sweet and savory side...and wanted to highlight both. We start with the amazing invite from Squared Party Printables.
Bring on the sweets!!
And while the party wasn't all about our lollipops, we did have some which were a big hit!! We can match our lollipops to your theme. They make great accent pieces or favors for guests!!
And after the birthday boy woke from his nap, we introduced his cake! Appropriately, he wanted the lollipops cake topper - a boy after our sweet hearts.
Thanks to the amazing vendors who contributed to our event:
D's Sweet Berries savory - chicken salad, turkey burgers, feta pasta salad, fruit salad with mint, sweets - 3 tier cake with rock candy, white chocolate strawberries with blue sugar crystals, star shaped firework sugar cookies)
Squared Party Printables (invitations and printables)
The Adorned Cookie - hand adorned "Charlie Is One" & "1" almond cookies
Bake It Pretty - Decorated Paper Straws
Vintage Confections - Everything else!!!

So we made it in the local paper recently which of course we were excited about. The poor people at the Patch were probably so sick of us rescheduling the appointment to talk about our { sweet } little world but truth be told very few understood what we were going through last fall.
Since 2008, Vintage Confections has been a quietly successful little nook at Etsy. We've made fortune cookies, marshmallows, caramels, cake balls, truffles, lollipops...and that's where it all began. Right at the end. In 2010 the Martha Stewart Weddings folks reached out for us. Interested in our lollipops as escort cards. We said yes to the project and in December 2010 our lollipops made the Martha Stewart Weddings issue. We have been making lollipops ever since. Brides Magazine, Bust Magazine, Martha Stewart Living, Amy Atlas...the list goes on. Sometimes we need a pinch. It hardly seems real.
Our lollipops have been a whole lot less about flavor (they're yummy...don't get us wrong...) than about the way they look. And since 2010 we have been exploring some seriously creative ideas in the lolllipop world. Making our own molds, layering colors...anything to personalize the lollipop experience. The edible art lollipops changed everything.
In September 2012, our Planet lollipops received worldwide attention and we were forced to make some super { sweet } changes pronto. We had been making changes all year but it was go time! (Who watches The Next Great Baker???) We opened a shop in Clarendon Hills, Illinois and said yes to the Christmas Walk. The race was on to make the place pretty...stock our shelves (we're still working on that!) and since then, a short three months ago, we've hired two more people.
And on that note, here is the article we opened this first post with. We hope you enjoyed our { sweet } introduction. Thanks for being a fan and checking out our new site.
2013 is going to bring some of our funnest ideas yet (is funnest a word?) and we can't wait to share. So stop by again...check out our latest news. Stay for awhile. That's our plan.
